It was in the summer of 2014 that I finally recognized that my primary spirit animal was a butterfly. For years this insect has been trying to get my attention, to warn me of the journey I was embarking on.
A butterfly symbolizes a significant transformation of personal growth and evolution of the soul. A deer symbolizes the energies of regeneration and renewal as their antlers grow back when they fall off.

With these two spirit animals by my side, I knew a grand transformation was soon to happen. The deer reminded me to stay calm and graceful as I navigated through the obstacles and listened to my instincts. This allowed me
to follow the butterfly with trust and confidence.

"Sometimes a dream almost whispers... [it's] the hardest thing to listen to — your instincts, your human personal intuition [...]. So you have to every day of your lives be ready to hear what whispers in your ear; it very rarely shouts." - Steven Spielberg

"It is important to embrace our roots with nature and remember that we have an inner
connection with the world around us. What is your spirit animal?"

Stages of the artwork in the creation process.

Stages of the artwork in the creation process.

There are four stages to a butterfly's transformation:
1. Egg Stage: the beginning – where an idea is born and not yet reality.
2. Larvae Stage: when the idea begins to take a physical form – usually involving preparation such as planning.
3. Cocoon Stage: entails developing your ideas, project or talent.
4. Emerging from the Chrysalis: the birth of the butterfly – the final transformation.
This last stage is about sharing the colours and ecstasy of your creation with the rest of the world.

Over the course of the 2014 I found myself tightrope walking through these stages.
A small idea that I could sell my art entered my mind early in the year (stage one) and as the spring hit, parts of my life were starting to fray at the edges and I began to put more thought into bringing my idea into reality (stage two). Soon into summer I was losing all interest in the life I had been building and moreso became interested in how to develop myself as a person and my artwork as a way of living (stage three). When fall hit, I made my debut and participated in a local craft show with a booth selling my artwork (stage four).

It's been a rocky start full of near hits and misses, but I've never given up hope that what I want is possible.
I've spent most of 2015 expanding my outer world and refining my inner soul.
I started my online Etsy store, began piecing together this website,
and I continue to create my artwork whenever possible.

I still believe that I have more transforming to do - where it will lead me, I do not know.
I shall take this journey day by day and trust that somewhere down the road, the dots will connect.

One day my idea will flourish with the brightest of coloured wings.
